Light the fireworks!
The Night Before the Fourth of July is here!

May 11, 2015

I'm exploding with news! My new book, The Night Before the Fourth of July, has been released today and it's another fun one. Thanks to illustrator, Amy Wummer, the pages are bursting with energy and sweetness and sizz-bang-boom. (There are some pretty cute dogs in the illustrations as well.)

The story is about a family celebrating Independence Day by decorating their house, going to the hometown parade, and having the neighbors and family over for a barbeque. But then, like it has many times during my life time, it starts to rain and everyone hopes and prays that the fireworks are not cancelled. Thankfully, it stops raining and the families enjoy a fabulous fireworks show!

I want to thank everyone who has supported me in the past and have written about how much they love this series. It keeps me going and coming up with new ideas (The Night Before My Dance Recital is coming in October.)

I sincerely appreciate all that you do in spreading the word about my books. A shout out to all the teachers who use them in their classrooms. Hugs to grandparents who share the stories with their grandchildren. And to parents who read them with their kids and then make up fun crafts to go with the story. Thank you creative bloggers who offer tips to extend the learning experience. You all make an author very happy!

Here are some ways to keep the love flowing:

1) Order the book from your favorite outlet whether it's Amazon, Barnes & Noble or your local indie. They are also available on Kindle and Nook Book in case you're traveling during the holiday.

2) Give a book as a greeting card instead of a card. It costs about the same, but lasts so much longer!

3) Donate a copy to your local library so more kids can have access to the book.

4) Put a copy in your neighbor's little free library. It's a neighborhood book exchange service that's spreading across the country.

5) Donate a copy to your child's classroom. Their teacher will love you for it!

6) Write a review. Social media is the new word of mouth. Here are some possible places to post reviews: Amazon, Goodreads, and your own blog or Facebook page.
